Books
General Collection, Textbook, Book Bank & HUSS Collection
The Central Library houses a comprehensive and rapidly expanding collection that includes research monographs, textbooks, book bank books, conference proceedings, reference books, and edited volumes. These resources span a wide range of disciplines, including science, engineering, technology, management, the humanities, and the social sciences.
The collection is continuously developed to support the institute's mission of advancing excellence in scientific and technical education and research, thereby contributing to both national and global knowledge.
The collection is systematically organized using the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) system, ensuring efficient access and retrieval. The book bank collection is arranged separately by book number.
Reference Books
Encyclopedias, Handbooks, Standards & More
The Central Library maintains a rich and diverse collection of reference materials, including encyclopedias, handbooks, standards, directories, dictionaries, yearbooks, manuals, art books, bibliographies, and geographical sources.
Reference books are housed exclusively within the Central Library and are not transferred to departments, schools, or centres. They are issued to members only with special permission.
Users are advised to contact the In-Charge of the Reader Services Division/Librarian to obtain the necessary permission for borrowing reference materials.
IITD Faculty and Staff Authored Books
Intellectual Contributions by IIT Delhi Community
The Central Library, IIT Delhi, is actively developing a dedicated collection of books authored by its faculty and staff members (excluding edited volumes) to preserve and promote the intellectual contributions of the IIT Delhi community.
To enhance accessibility and visibility, avirtual corner featuring these publications has been created on the library website. In addition, a physical galleryshowcasing these works is available on the first floorof the Central Library, near the circulation desk.
हिंदी भाषा संग्रह / Hindi Collection
Hindi Language Books & SAGE eBooks
The Central Library has developed a strong and growing collection of Hindi language books. It also provides access to the SAGE Bhasha Hindi collection, which includes93 eBooks in Hindi.
The library's Hindi collection covers a wide range of subjects, including Hindi literature by prominent authors, as well as books from various academic disciplines. These books are prominently displayed on the first floor, near the reference section.
केंद्रीय पुस्तकालय ने हिंदी भाषा की पुस्तकों का एक सशक्त और निरंतर विकसित हो रहा संग्रह तैयार किया है। इसके साथ ही, पुस्तकालय SAGE भाषा हिंदी संग्रह तक भी पहुँच प्रदान करता है, जिसमें हिंदी की 93 ई-पुस्तकेंशामिल हैं।
पुस्तकालय का हिंदी संग्रह विभिन्न विषयों को समाहित करता है। इस संग्रह के अधिकतम उपयोग को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए, केंद्रीय पुस्तकालय अपने सभी सदस्यों को उनकी निर्धारित निर्गम सीमा के अतिरिक्त एक अतिरिक्त हिंदी पुस्तकनिर्गम करने की सुविधा प्रदान करता है।

Theses & Dissertations
Ph.D. Theses & Institutional Repository
Central Library receives copies of allPh.D. theses awarded at IIT Delhi, which are housed in the Textbook, Book Bank & Theses division. A copy of thesis added to the library collection and details of the same can be accessible through WebOPAC.
The abstracts of theses online (title-to-content) are accessible at IR@IITD (Institutional Repository) and the full text of the theses are available through the Shodhganga National Repository.
