What are Preprint Repositories?

Preprint repositories also called archives / servers allows immediate sharing of research results and can provide quick feedback to help in the revision and preparation of a manuscript. It facilitates wide and free dissemination of research.

Understanding Preprints

A preprint is a scholarly manuscript posted by the author(s) to a repository or platform to facilitate open review. authors post their paper under a Creative Commons license which allows reproduction and reuse of the material if attribution is given to the original authors.

Early Feedback Platform

Preprint repositories are platforms to facilitate researchers to deposit manuscripts that have not been peer-reviewed or published and to receive early feedback and attract attention to their research at an early stage.

Why Use Preprint Repositories?

The researchers and faculty members can use these preprints repositories/archives (Physical Sciences arXiv and ChemRxiv, Biomedical Sciences bioRxiv and medRxiv and General Sciences including the Social Sciences SSRN) to share your early research findings/manuscript. It allows wide dissemination of research work and attracts more citations. Preprints are indexed by Scopus and Web of Science and also indexed in scholarly search engines like Google Scholar, Dimensions, Lens, and OSF preprints.
