About the Internship
The Central Library, IIT Delhi looks for young, enthusiastic, and dynamic post-graduates in Library and Information Science with a consistently good academic record to work as Library Interns on a temporary basis.
Types of Internships
The Central Library, IIT Delhi offers two types of internships:
A. Internship for Curriculum Needs (Short-term, unpaid)
- For MLIS Students
- 1-6 Months Duration
- Academic Requirement
B. One-Year Full-Time Internship (Paid, competitive selection)

A. Internship for Curriculum Needs
Programme Details
Description
This internship is designed exclusively for MLIS students who are required to undergo practical training as part of their academic curriculum. The internship provides hands-on exposure to routine library operations and services. Interns will gain foundational experience in library functioning; however, no stipend or accommodation is provided. Applications must be forwarded through the Head of the Department (DLIS) of the concerned University/Institution.
B. One-Year Full-Time Internship (Stipend-Based)
This is a competitive, full-time internship offered annually with a monthly stipend.

2. Eligibility Criteria
First Division in Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent.
MLIS degree must be completed in the current year or previous year.
3. Application Procedure
Apply online through the Google Form available on the Central Library, IIT Delhi website: https://library.iitd.ac.in/ during the advertisement period.

Modern library management practices
Web-based and digital library services
Emerging tools and technologies used in academic libraries
Interns are required to work six days a week, including rotational evening shift duties up to 9:00 PM. A maximum of eight leaves per year is permissible.
5. Remuneration
A consolidated monthly stipend of ₹30,000/- will be paid to the Library Interns.
6. Duration of Internship
The internship will be offered purely on a temporary basis for a maximum period of one year. The Internship Completion Certificate will be issued only to those interns who successfully complete at least six months of the internship.
7. Age Limit
The age of the applicant should not exceed 27 years as on the last date of application.
8. Accommodation
There is no provision for Institute accommodation for Library Interns. However, several accommodation options are available in the vicinity of IIT Delhi at nominal charges, such as Katwaria Sarai, Ber Sarai, Jia Sarai, etc., offering both independent and shared accommodation for male and female interns.

10. Joining and Document Verification
Candidates must verify original educational documents by submitting one set of photocopies along with a passport-size photograph at the time of joining.
11. Orientation of the Intern
On the first day, the central library provides a brief orientation describing all sections of the library, staff members, and nature of work.
12. Reporting of Intern
Interns will be placed in different sections of the central library or unit libraries based on requirements.
13. Presentation
As a mandatory requirement for completing the internship and receiving the certificate, the intern must present a PPT at the end of the internship detailing what they have learned.
