The Central Library facilitates access to books and journal articles not available in its own collection through the Inter-Library Loan (ILL) service.

Services Offered

  • Books and journal articles are arranged from other libraries in Delhi.
  • Photocopies of research articles are procured from other IITs under a formal resource-sharing agreement among all IITs.
  • The Library also supports demand-based procurement of research publications, including books and article photocopies, from IITs and other institutions across India on a reciprocal basis.

Document procurement services are available through DELNET (Developing Library Network).

Cost Recovery Basis:
These services are provided on a cost-recovery basis. Users are required to bear applicable expenses such as:
  • Postal charges
  • Photocopying charges
  • Any other delivery-related costs

To avail DELNET services or request books through DELNET:

Book Location Service

To assist users in locating books that are misplaced or not found on the shelves, the Central Library provides a Book Location Service.

  • Users may fill out a Book Location Form, available at the Circulation Counter, for books they are unable to locate.
  • Upon receipt of the request, library staff conduct a systematic search for the reported items.
  • Users are informed of the status and availability of the books in due course.
