Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about ONOS and APC waivers.
One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) is a Government of India initiative that provides all researchers at eligible Indian institutions with access to a large collection of academic journals and Open Access publishing support, including APC waivers.
An Article Processing Charge (APC) waiver means the publisher agrees to publish your article as Open Access without charging the standard APC fee. Under ONOS, this cost is covered centrally for eligible researchers.
Yes. Eligible IIT Delhi researchers pay no APC for articles published in ONOS-participating journals. The cost is covered through the ONOS national subscription agreement.
All current IIT Delhi affiliates — faculty, research scholars, postdoctoral researchers, and students — are eligible, provided they are the corresponding author and their primary affiliation listed in the paper is IIT Delhi.
Yes. Co-authors may be from any institution. The key requirement is that the corresponding author holds a current IIT Delhi affiliation.
Immediately after acceptance:
- Do NOT pay the APC invoice
- Contact the IIT Delhi Library ERD with your acceptance letter
- Provide the APC invoice and your affiliation proof
- Library staff will coordinate the waiver with the publisher
Typically 2–6 weeks from submission of your waiver request to the Library. Publishers vary in their processing speed. Start the process as soon as you receive your acceptance letter to avoid delays.
Only journals on the official ONOS eligible list qualify for APC waivers through this programme. If your journal is not listed, contact the Library — there may be other institutional support options available.
Go to the Journals tab and use the search box to search by journal name, ISSN, publisher, or subject area. You can also browse alphabetically using the A–Z filter bar.
