Dr. Neeraj Chaurasia is Deputy Librarian at Central Library, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Presently, he is heading the General Administration (GA), Collection Development Division (CDD), Technical Processing Division (TPD),Library Store & Purchase Section (LSP), Stock Verification (SV), Data Validation (DV) of the Central Library, IIT Delhi. He is also holding the position of Head of Hindi Cell, IIT Delhi.
Prior to join IIT Delhi, he has also served at some of the esteemed organizations i.e. Sahitya Akademi (The National Academy of Letters), Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Centre for Bio-Medical Research (University of Delhi), India Habitat Centre (IHC) and Developing Library Network (DELNET), New Delhi.
Dr. Neeraj has earned Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Library and Information Science from Dr. H. S. Gour University, Sagar (M.P.). He hold a Bachelor degree in Science (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics); a Bachelor degree in Library & Information Science (B.Lib.I.Sc); Master's of Arts (M.A.- English Literature); Master degree in Library & Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc) (Gold-medalist) from Dr. H. S. Gour University, Sagar (M.P.); and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA). He has qualified the National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) (conducted by University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi) for Lectureship in Library & Information Science in the year 1999.
Dr. Neeraj is also holding the position of Head of Hindi Cell, IIT Delhi. He is the Managing Editor of 'Jigyasa-Vigyan Journal' and ‘SAMPARK-Fortnightly Newsletter’ published by IIT Delhi. He has organized/coordinated several workshops/trainings sessions for IIT staff members for progressive use of Rajbhasha Hindi in the Institute.He has participated in various Institute level Committees and acted as Expert Member/ Examiner/Committee Member to the various professional bodies and Institutions/universities.
Dr. Neeraj has a rich exposure of more than 22 years of library services serving at various esteemed organizations and extensive experience of working in successful e-resource consortia initiatives in India, i.e. the INDEST-AICTE Consortium. He has experience in the automation of libraries and the implementation of RFID technology in libraries. He was actively involved in library automation related activities and significantly contributed in the implementation of RFID Technology and CCTV in the Central Library, IIT Delhi.
He has published 60+ research articles in edited books, learned journals and conference proceedings in English and Hindi. He is Editorial Board members of 4 reputed international and national journals and reviewer of number of journals in LIS. He is also contents/modules writer for ePGPathshala Project of INFLIBNET. He has guided a number of students of M.L.I.Sc, M. Phil. of various Universities and examiner.
He has been Member of organizing committees/advisory committees/ Resource person/Invited speaker/Keynote speaker/Session chair in various national international conferences/seminars/ workshops. He is recipient of 'Best paper award' for the paper presented and published in the IEEE 5th International Symposium on Emerging Trends and Technology in Libraries and Information Services (ETTLIS) held at Bennett University from February 21st-23rd, 2018.
Dr. Neeraj has been conferred with one of the most reputed ‘SLA Asian Sci-Tech Librarian Award 2019’ by Asian Chapter, Special Libraries Association (SLA), USA during SLA’s Annual Conference, June 14-18, 2019, Huntington Convention Center, Cleveland, Ohio, USA.
He has been awarded as 'Engineering Institution Librarian of the Year 2018' by the Madhya Pradesh Library Association (MPLA) during the National Seminar on Transformation of Society by Strengthening the Library Resources and Services (TSLRS 2018)' at Regional Institute of Education (RIE) Bhopal on September 16, 2018.He is winner of ‘SLA Engineering Librarian of the Year award 2020’ from Engineering Division, the Special Library Association (SLA), USA.
He is an active member of professional societies in India and abroad, including SLA-USA, ISSI-Belgium, SIS, ILA, DLA, IASLIC, MANLIBNET, MPLA and IATLIS.
His area of interest includes - Consortia based subscription of eResources, eResources Consortia management, RFID implementation, Digitization of Library Resources, Emerging Technologies for Library Management and Services, Library Networks, eBooks and other automation related activities in Libraries.
